Golden, Colorado: Where the West Lives Uncategorized - April 25, 2011

The reason we ended up staying in Golden, Colorado, was sheer chance. We were looking for an RV park within a particular radius, and the only one with space was the one in Golden. And man, am I thankful for that! Golden is just adorable!
Our RV park (Clear Creek, for all you RVers out there) was just wonderful. Not only was the staff great, but the location was perfect. The “park” (it’s in “” because it’s such a small and quaint little establishment) is adjacent to a park and river, and the walkway takes you right into town in less than 10 minutes. Now Golden’s slogan is “Where the West Lives,” and it suits the town perfectly. Just about everything has a cute western vibe to it, and there’s hardly anything left un-styled. Just walking to town from the bus, I came across a little historical area with old barns and houses (and when I say old, I mean OLD). And when you get to town, the saloons, hotels, etc. are perfectly in character. (And by “character,” I don’t mean fake and touristy).
Usually, after about three or four days in one place I’m itching to move on. Not Golden, though. I enjoyed hanging out for a while. I loved the fact that I was at the bottom of a mountain, right next to a river and could walk right to town.
Anyway, we were also really productive during our stay in Golden. Ben not only had some business things to work on while in the area, but he also had a storage unit that he wanted to clear out. In storage he had a bunch of both old and entertaining things. When he pulled out his original 128K Macintosh, I had to giggle a little. When Ben was working on that, I was FOUR. (He he
) What I loved, however, were all his old photos from when he was little and in college. And I totally stole some and stashed them.
While we were in Golden, we also spend a bit of time updating and upgrading (in my case) things on the bus. I am REALLY excited to say that I finally have my own work station on the bus! Yes, after a year and a half of working on a laptop screen (after years of using Apple’s 30″ display) I FINALLY have my own desk and display. Words cant explain how great it is to have my own space to work, and a more convenient set-up to work on. I’m in utopia!
More to come…

Your trial phase is over – you at last have a desk! Congratulations!
(Looks awesome, btw…)
Thanks! I'm not in beta anymore – yay! The workstation is amazing… I have my own little 3×4 world now
And just think… there's room for two just like it on a vintage bus…. (as if you need any more enticements!)
